CFB Fish Farms

The aim of the CFB's fish stock management programmes is to restore fish populations in those fisheries which have been affected by pollution, fish kills and other problems. Fish stock management has also been used to enhance the angling status of a fishery. The CFB fish farms rear brown trout, rainbow trout and coarse fish such as carp.

There are two fish farms. One at Roscrea and the other at Cullion. Both farms rear brown trout and rainbow trout. Roscrea Fish Farm also has a coarse fish facility and is currently rearing carp and rudd. Trials are underway with other coarse fish species.

The farms operate commercially and sell fish to clubs and private fisheries.
